On July 6, 2022, patrol units were dispatched to a shooting at a residence in Kernersville. Communications advised a subject had been shot at the residence and the suspect had left the area in a blue Ford Explorer with a ladder on the roof rack. Almost immediately after the lookout was given, Dep. Manning located and engaged in a pursuit with the suspect. During the pursuit, the suspect fired shots multiple times from his vehicle. Several deputies (Lt. A. Gaylor, Sgt. J. White, Sgt. S. Carter, Cpl. T. Southard, Deputy W. Cline, and Dep. L. Manning) remained engaged with the suspect vehicle and were not deterred from their duty to apprehend the suspect. Deputies recognized that this subject was an imminent threat to the citizens of Forsyth County and needed to be apprehended without delay. Due to their determination and commitment, Deputies were able to work together seamlessly and arrest a murder suspect after a high speed pursuit through two counties and did so without injury to themselves or the suspect. The teamwork displayed among all deputies involved was unparalleled.
