Forsyth DSS holds Quality Aging Conference

The inaugural Quality Aging Conference drew together dozens of agencies with 209 attendees to learn how older adults can maintain their independence as they age.

The event was held by the Forsyth County Department of Social Services for seniors and caregivers on Sept. 19 at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. Attendees heard North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine Marshall speak about how her office protects seniors from scams and offered advice on how to avoid falling victim to fraud. Other speakers included Forsyth County Commissioners Don Martin and Gloria Whisenhunt.

Other presenters during the event included Shepherd’s Center of Greater Winston-Salem Executive Director Sam Matthews, Forsyth Public Health Nutritionist Kerry Leonard, Forsyth Public Health Dental Hygienist Mashica Jefferson, Forsyth Social Services’ Curtis Cheeks and Tina Lewis, Trellis Supportive Care’s Angela Nicholson and Jacob Gordon, Forsyth EMS Community Paramedics Coordinator Brent Motsinger, Forsyth Social Services Medicaid Director Marissa Adams, Partners Health Management Clinician Evelyn Smith, Senior Services Vice President of Aging Resources Sandra Rinaldi and Assistant Public Health Director Sherita Sutton.
