Property Tax Bill Payment Options with the Road Closure
Property Tax Bill Payment Options
As the deadline approaches to pay 2021 Property Tax bills, we urge property owners to use one of the payment methods listed below to avoid road and sidewalk closures due to construction that is adjacent to the Government Center.
- By mail: If mailing your payment, please be aware that mail delivery is slower than normal during the holiday season
- Pay online using credit, debit card or e-check (convenience fees will apply)
If you do plan on coming downtown to the Forsyth County Tax Department to pay your Property Tax bill, please be aware of the following road closures.
- Chestnut Street between 1st Street and 2nd Street
- Patterson Avenue between 1st Street and 3rd Street
It is recommended to turn on Chestnut Street from 3rd street to access our parking deck. Social distancing will be enforced and face coverings are required inside the Government Center. As an alternative to waiting in line in our office, you may place your check or money order in our drop box which is located on the outside of the building next to the parking deck entrance.
Did you know?
The United States Postal Service has revised its service standards for certain First-Class mail items, effective October 1, 2021. Under the new service standards, the delivery time range for First-Class mail has expanded from 1-3 days to 1-5 days. If you are mailing in your payment, please allow extra time for these postal service delays.
The Forsyth County Tax Department will record all mailed payments according to the USPS postmark on the envelope. The payment must be postmarked by the USPS by January 5, 2022. If there is not a USPS postmark, the payment will be recorded according to the date it is received in the Tax Department which could result in the assessment of late penalties of 2%.
