Forsyth County Commissioner Fleming El-Amin has been appointed to the NC Local Health Department Accreditation Board.
The Accreditation Board defines, endorses, and upholds standards of minimum performance for the state’s local health departments. The Board is the official entity that assigns accreditation status to local health departments participating in the accreditation process.
The Board is composed of 17 members appointed by the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services. The Board has four positions for county commissioners, who are recommended by the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners. Board members serve four-year terms and may serve up to three terms.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the State in this capacity,” said El-Amin. “Our public health system is an essential component of our quality of life.”
El-Amin has served as a Forsyth County commissioner since 2017. The county’s Board of Health and Human Services is among the many boards he serves on.
The NCLHDA program is administered by the North Carolina Institute for Public Health, part of the Gillings School of Global Public Health at UNC-Chapel Hill, and is funded through a partnership with the North Carolina Association of Local Health Directors.
