The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a contract for NaphCare, Inc. to provide health care services for the Law Enforcement Detention Center on May 6.
The contract, which is not to exceed $20,640,430.93, begins September 1, 2021, and runs through June 30, 2024. The contract may be extended in one-year increments up to three times and the provider may adjust prices beginning July 1, 2024. The contract includes funding for a new Behavioral Health Unit, which will begin as a 10 month pilot program, with two years of additional funding pending a review for performance analytics and funding availability.
In previous years, there was only one provider who bid for the Detention Center health care contract. This year, the county received six proposals from providers across the country for the contract. A diverse team of county staff representing the County Manager’s Office, Public Health Department, Sheriff’s Office, and Budget & Management assessed the proposals based on a number of criteria, including six mandatory requirements, a review of past performance and experience including reference checks, and 21 technical and clinical criteria. NaphCare was identified as the best overall proposal in terms of meeting the needs of the county within funding appropriations and constraints.
“We respect the decision of the Board of County Commissioners in choosing a contracted medical services provider for the Detention Center.” - Sheriff Bobby F. Kimbrough, Jr.
