Launched by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and National Audubon Society, the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) is a global online citizen-science project designed to collect data on wild birds while displaying real-time results at the GBBC Website. Join N.C. Cooperative Extension, Forsyth County Center, at 1450 Fairchild Road in Winston-Salem on Saturday, Feb. 15, from 1– 3 p.m. to learn important details about the bird count, how to submit observations, and how to attract birds to your backyard throughout the year. The first 30 families with preschool/elementary school-age children will receive a free EcoExplorer Backyard Bird Kit (limit one per family) with materials and instructions for bird seed treats, coloring pages, and more bird-related activities. This event is free and open to the general public.
