On June 5, 2019, twenty-one Forsyth County 4-H'ers, 5th-12th grade, attended classes in the Innovation Station, a Cooperative Extension bus from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. The Innovation Station is a STEM bus that travels from place to place to teach kids about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. They have classes ranging from building LEGO model cars with engines to 3-D printing a model house. The STEM bus came to the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Forsyth County Center to hold two classes. In the first class, thirteen 5th-10th graders learned about MagLev (magnetic levitation). They built a train that could float above the magnets on the track by using foam blocks, glue dots, and magnets. In the second class, 14 high school aged 4-Hers learned about 3-D printing. They designed models of farms, castles, dragons, stairs, and other things on a computer. The models were then printed with the 3-D printer. It was a fun learning experience and a great time with 4-H friends!
