What does art, bots, computer chips, drones and electricity have to do with 4-H? They are all topics that three Forsyth County 4-H'ers learned about at the 2018 4-H Makers Summit in Washington, D.C. The youth were Zane Richardson, Luke Arrowood, and Calleigh Wilson and they were chaperoned by 4-H Volunteer Carla Arrowood. The trip was funded through the 4-H Paper Clover Fundraiser that is held at local Tractor Supply Companies every spring and fall.
"Makers Summit was really fun! It was exciting to go. I enjoyed the projects we did and all the panels. It was really neat to hear what the person from Google had to say! He brought programmable chips and taught us how to program them. I also enjoyed visiting the National Museum of American History. It was a great experience!" said Calleigh.
“Maker’s Summit exceeded my expectations. The technology was great including using drones and spheros to solve problems. We learned to work in teams which was challenging at times and easy when our group “clicked”. I learned how to be a better team member. The food was great too.” said Luke.
