The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Office of Emergency Management along with the Rural Hall Fire Department is offering the Community Emergency Response Team 21-hour Basic Training Course at the Rural Hall Fire Department. Disasters can severely restrict and overwhelm emergency response resources and leave communities cut off from outside emergency support. CERTs are trained to take care of themselves and help others in their communities for the first three days following a disaster. Some of the topics discussed are: Disaster Preparedness, Fire Safety, Medical Operations, Light Search and Rescue, Disaster Psychology and Terrorism. Upon successful completion, students are eligible to join a local community team. However, students are not required to join a team in order to register for the course. Course will be limited to the first 25 qualified registrants. Register today at: www.readyforsyth.org
