Samuel Barrick attended 4-H State Council Conference November 15, 2015 in Raleigh, North Carolina and was recognized as one of the 2015 NC 4-H Youth Volunteers of the Year. He joined more than 260 youth and adults at the conference representing 67 counties. While at the conference, delegates had the chance to learn about health, improve their leadership skills and participate in interactive workshops.
Samuel, is the 17 year old son of Michael and Melinda Barrick of Winston-Salem. He is a member of the Trailblazer Teens 4-H Club, and NEST 4-H Club serving as President for both clubs, as well as a member of the Forsyth County 4-H Council and the North Carolina 4-H Honor Club. He has logged over 350 hours of community service, has promoted 4-H at numerous events and led 4-H workshops and tours as a 4-H'er.
Samuel has spent over 100 hours (that has been tracked) volunteering in an official 4-H capacity. He has reached over 100 people through his efforts. He has really taken leadership of the Trailblazer Teens to the next level and empowered their youth committees to engage them in monthly community service projects in order to give back to others. He has assisted directly with raising over $14,000 in funds, and coupons through his service this year.
