On September 22, 2020, Deputy W. Summers responded to a panic and fire alarm at the maintenance building located at Tanglewood Park. Unfortunately, as Deputy Summers entered the park and passed the guard station, he lost control of his vehicle and ultimately collided with a tree. Deputies Norwood and Sealey were also responding to the alarm and heard Deputy Summers requesting immediate assistance, due to the injuries he sustained during the vehicle crash. When Deputies Norwood and Sealey arrived, they found the vehicle to be on fire and located Deputy Summers at the rear of the vehicle. Deputy Summers was not able to move away from the vehicle any further due to his injuries. Deputies Norwood and Sealey, without any thoughts of their own safety, grabbed a hold of Deputy Summers and got him away from the burning vehicle. Both deputies then began assessing the situation and also provided aid to Deputy Summers until trained medical professionals arrived. Both Deputy Norwood and Deputy Sealey are being recognized for the heroic actions, quick thinking, and bravery in assisting their fellow law enforcement officer.
